There’s no hope for you fatass

This article from New York Magazine has been turning up all over the place the past few days. It says how back in the 50′s some dude made up all this stuff about exercise having an effect on weight-loss and how now everyone believes that you can sweat off the pounds by running or walking, which is totally not true. Increased physical activity leads to increased hunger and more calories. Now I feel totally justified for not going to the gym or jogging the past 4 months.

Does Exercise Really Make Us Thinner?

Owen Nester Trio at Create Bistro

We’ve got a couple MP3s from last night’s performance of the Owen Nester trio at the Create Bistro in Hilton Village. I had never been to the Bistro before, and I must say that it was tight. Physically tight. The bistro is an old 50′s diner, and it’s so small that you can barely fit 20 people in there, let alone a drum kit and keyboard amp. It also didn’t help that there was a water main busted in Hilton and so there was no running water in the bathrooms there. The food did look and smell great, although I didn’t eat anything, but I probably will be back in the future to get some tasty food because all everyone looked happy with their food.

Enough about the Bistro. Owen (trumpet) was accompanied by John Wade (drums) and Randall Lawson (keys) of Rich Whiskey Audition and belted out some great jazz. I only managed to snag 2 songs on my laptop, and while the sound quality isn’t great, the trio’s talent comes thru fine. Plus the chatter in the background makes you feel like you’re right there having an import next to them. Can you feel it?

Owen’s off to Philly next week to accompany The Mumbles, but John, Randall and the rest of Rich Whiskey Audition can be found playing all over the Penninsula.

Feels so good..

Man it feels great to be in charge of a site again. For a few years up until last January I was running a site called daHIFI.net, but because I wasn’t into it at the time I let the domain lapse thinking I could just reactivate it when I was ready to pick it back up again. Big mistake. Long story short, register.com is in cahoots with some cyber-squatting bastards who are currently holding my domain hostage for a few hundred dollars.

Since there is nothing sweeter than having your own domain, Chef Todd P and I decided to start another site up and picked EpicHoney after much deliberation. The site is going to serve as an umbrella for all the different adventures that we get ourselves into. Todd and I are both into music, so we’ll be bringing you some of that from both us and our network of musician friends. Todd is also a chef so we’ll be bringing some of his tasty recipes to you via our YouTube channel. We’ve got lots of talented friends that we’ll be highlighting on the site in the next few weeks, and we’ll also be offering up funny t-shirts and other merchandise thru our CafePress store.

And then there’s the parties. We’ve got a series of Friday happy hour themed parties lined up over the next few months to bring everyone together. We’re scheduling them for every two weeks with the next one planned for September 28, so if you live in the Hampton Roads area be sure and follow this page to find out what the plan is for the next one. I don’t have the flyers for the next one ready to tease you with yet, but it’s called White Leather Shoes at the Barbecue. Don’t worry if you don’t have white leather shoes, they’re not mandatory so wear whatever’s close and we’ll have a good time.

Keep checking us out til then. Peace out.

Yah, so we had this awesome party last Friday. And you probably missed it. We had tons of food, mixed drinks and beer, music and decorations. A lot of hot senoritas showed up too. Don’t feel bad that you weren’t there, we’ll have another soon. And then you can come.
