I almost declined to post this for reasons I’ll explain shortly, but here goes anyways. Via The Alfredo Torres Debacle comes word of VBNightlife.com, a Ning based social network based around, can you guess? Virginia Beach nightlife, music, bands and DJs.

First off it’s a great idea, it has about 500 members and seems to be a good source of info on what’s going on round the HRV. Why VBNightlife though? NorfolkNightlife, 757Nightlife, HamptonRoads/HRVNightlife would have been better picks. Why tie yourself to one city out of 7 when you’re just going to be covering shit that goes on in Norfolk anyways.

And my second gripe goes out to Nicole Maxino for shamelessly ripping the music calendar off of Meona.net and reposting it without attribution. I know Meona’s Stephen Sloop personally. He has been running Meona for a decade and it’s saddening to see someone taking credit for his work again. For chrissake at least give him a link at the top of the page!

In spite of that I’m still posting to this site as it is a good resource of what’s going on over in Va Beach. They’ve got a comprehensive list of the bars and bands in the area, so it’s worth checking out.
