Here’s last Sunday’s set by John Baldwin at the Ocean View Pier. My SO and I had never been out there before and boy we’re we impressed. The sun stayed hidden behind clouds most of the time, so it was very pleasant. It turned into a very nice date for the two of us. John put on a good show. He played a set of his original songs, and I was impressed by his guitar work. A loopback pedal goes a long way these days. Check out the vids:

We’ve got 10 clips of Americana duo Mercy Creek from last night’s performance at Marker 20. Cheryl Nystrom, and Jim Ball are two of the hardest working musicians I’ve ever met. They tour constantly (seriously, look at their schedule) and always put on a great show. Check it out.
These are all HD, so hit the icon to get the full quality video.
Please note two of the clips are missing at this time, we’ll try to get that corrected for ya real soon.
And sorry about all the chatter in the background. That’s what happens when you get drunk with friends and have a good time, right?
Caught a new band out this week at Marker 20 and I am really excited about these guys: Lord Bowler. This was their first time playing out of their living room and I thought they did a really good job. They’ve got a unique original sound and played their own music. Just what we’re looking for here on EpicHoney!
Lord Bowler is Maria Thomas on keys, Matt Thomas on bass, Mike Lusby on guitar and Mike Anaya on drums. At least, that’s how they start in this first clip; they switched up instruments every song!
We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more from these guys!
Hey Hampton Roads, did you know that you can get local, fresh, in-season produce straight from local farms? That’s right, a number of local farms sell shares of their harvest through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs. You can pre-purchase a share of the harvest before the growing season begins. Clayhill Farms in Suffolk (PDF), for example, sells 100 shares a year for between $18 and $25 a week which gets you a basket of fresh veggies for 20 weeks starting June 8. The baskets or boxes will contain a variety of foods including sweet corn, tomatoes, cantaloupe, basil, peaches and more. There will be a variey of produce throughout the season, although specific items cannot be guarranteed.
CSAs are a great way to eat healthy and support local farms in the area. Contact Edmond, Janice & Anson Morris at clayhillfarmssca at yahoo dot com for more info.
Here’s a recent Daily Press article with info on other local CSAs.

I just got a FB invite from Suzy-Ray-Vaughn about an upcoming event this Sunday at Saddle Ridge to help raise money for Walt Redmond Jr’s children. Here’s the info from the Facebook event page:
This is a benefit to raise money for the college funds of Walt Redmond, Jr’s. children.
Walt passed away last month and his music and smiling face will be missed by many.
The show will be held at Saddle Ridge on Power Plant Parkway in Hampton, VA. Saddle Ridge is divided into two places, Saddle Ridge and the Cheyenne Supper Club. Both venues will have stages in use that day. The loud rock bands will be in the big room at Saddle Ridge and the acoustic acts will be in Cheyenne Supper Club.
Admission is $10. There will be T-shirts for sale, auction items and a CD of Walt’s music available too.
Please come out and support a great cause, have some fun and hear some great music too. We play around 8:30.

So, after I was packed up by the two cool ass moving dudes, I was on my way. First stop was to be Richmond, VA. I got off I-95 and drove around for a little bit until i saw a pretty good view of downtown.

After some quick sight seeing, I became rather hungry, so I stopped into this little place on E Main st. called Amore’ Rotisserie & Grill. Met the coolest little old Asian lady, ’cause she gave me a free sample of the italian sausage. I bought my food (which was damn good) and headed for D.C.. Check out my flickr photo stream for pics of the resturant. Tonight I’m gonna check out a bar here in D.C., so check back for a ‘day after’ review.
till that day…
