Here’s last Sunday’s set by John Baldwin at the Ocean View Pier. My SO and I had never been out there before and boy we’re we impressed. The sun stayed hidden behind clouds most of the time, so it was very pleasant. It turned into a very nice date for the two of us. John put on a good show. He played a set of his original songs, and I was impressed by his guitar work. A loopback pedal goes a long way these days. Check out the vids:

Caught a new band out this week at Marker 20 and I am really excited about these guys: Lord Bowler. This was their first time playing out of their living room and I thought they did a really good job. They’ve got a unique original sound and played their own music. Just what we’re looking for here on EpicHoney!

Lord Bowler is Maria Thomas on keys, Matt Thomas on bass, Mike Lusby on guitar and Mike Anaya on drums. At least, that’s how they start in this first clip; they switched up instruments every song!

We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more from these guys!

That’s right, a number of local farms sell shares of their harvest through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs. You can pre-purchase a share of the harvest before the growing season begins. Clayhill Farms in Suffolk (PDF), for example, sells 100 shares a year for between $18 and $25 a week which gets you a basket of fresh veggies for 20 weeks starting June 8. The baskets or boxes will contain a variety of foods including sweet corn, tomatoes, cantaloupe, basil, peaches and more. There will be a variey of produce throughout the season, although specific items cannot be guarranteed.

CSAs are a great way to eat healthy and support local farms in the area. Contact Edmond, Janice & Anson Morris at clayhillfarmssca at yahoo dot com for more info.

So, after I was packed up by the two cool ass moving dudes, I was on my way. First stop was to be Richmond, VA. I got off I-95 and drove around for a little bit until i saw a pretty good view of downtown.

After some quick sight seeing, I became rather hungry, so I stopped into this little place on E Main st. called Amore’ Rotisserie & Grill. Met the coolest little old Asian lady, ’cause she gave me a free sample of the italian sausage. I bought my food (which was damn good) and headed for D.C.. Check out my flickr photo stream for pics of the resturant. Tonight I’m gonna check out a bar here in D.C., so check back for a ‘day after’ review.

till that day…
